StarDate 0709.15 - The Beginning
Our competition officially launched on Saturday,
September 15th. 50+ students traveled by bus to
the University of West Florida for the B.E.S.T.
kickoff event. During the two-hour journey,
students, dressed in royal blue Seaside uniforms,
created Martian headgear and solar noisemakers
to ready themselves for their first "showing" in the
spirit and sportsmanship department.

While at the kickoff event, students
were given their B.E.S.T. mission,
shown the playing field as it will be on
game day, and provided materials for
building their robot. The robot kit
consists of various nuts, bolts, PVC
pipe, wood and the electronic devices
needed to mobilize their "bot".
Students are restricted from using any
materials, other than those in their kit,
when designing and constructing their
robot.

After an entertaining show by our very
own astronauts and robots, to the tune
of Mr. Roboto, at our own SNS kickoff,
students were given an overview of the
mission and competition before
deciding on which competition
committee they would serve.
